Once on a time in 1969, a young Dutch millionaire by the name of Stanley August Miesegaes gave his acquaintance, vocalist and keyboardist Rick Davies, a "true opportunity" to form his recognize band; he could form the troop of his dreams and Miesegaes would pay beneficial to it. After placing an ad in Melody Maker, Davies assembled Supertramp side by side co-founders Roger Hodgson (vocals, pianoforte, guitar, cello), Richard Palmer (vocals, guitar, balalaika), and forgoing stage actor Robert Millar (percussion, harmonica). Supertramp released brace long-winded progressive rock albums near the front of Miesegaes withdrew his support, and ~ the agency of early 1972, Davies and Hodgson were the merely founding members remaining. The pair began every extensive search for replacements and before long pieced together the lineup that would exist responsible for Supertramp's express sound, comprising new members Doug Thomson (low), Bob Siebenberg (percussion), and John Helliwell (woodwinds, saxophone, keyboards).
